Stones of Prayer

This is a photo of a place known as the Cruz de Ferro , the Iron Cross. It is near the top of a long ascension in the pilgrim road over a mountain pass near the border of Galicia.

It's traditional to bring a small stone with you from your homeland to leave at the Cruz de Ferro, to ensure your safe arrival in Santiago. As you walk, you put your thoughts and prayers into your stone.

When travellers reach this special place by the roadside, they add their special stone to the ever-growing pile of rocks left by centuries of pilgrims.

Oh... my... God! You leave a comment at my blog, so I decide to pay yours a visit, and what do I find? Photos of some places I've seen before! LOL

My girlfriend lives in Porto, Portugal, and back in 2006, when I paid my first visit to her native country, one of the places we went to was...

Santiago de Compostela!

Very cool! :D
