Heather Decides to Walk Across Spain

Text to be added

This blog is dedicated to my mother-in-law, Heather, who travelled to Spain in the autumn of 2006 to become a pilgrim on the road to the ancient city of Santiago de Compostela.
She and her seven travelling companions journeyed 783 kilometres on foot following the medieval pilgrimage route of St. James. Walking between twenty and thirty kilometres each day, their adventure on the road took a month to complete.
Their long walk began in the little town of St. Jean-Pied-de-Port in France, climbing high over the Pyrennees mountains, then crossing the vast plains of northern Spain to eventually reach the cathedral in the city of Santiago de Compostela.
Travelling companions were Diane, Bernice, Jenny, Cathy, Joyce, Marlene, and Jodie
Weight of backpack: 20-25 lbs.
